Clement Railroad Hotel Museum to honor Mark Collie at Legacy Event

The sixth annual Legacy Awards Celebration, established to honor the life and legacy of the late Tennessee Governor Frank G. Clement, will take place in-person at 100 Frank Clement Place in Dickson on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m.

The 2022 event will also be livestreamed on the Clement Hotel Museum Facebook page.

NASHVILLE, TN–October 27, 2021– What started 20 years ago this October with an all-star concert at Tennessee’s notorious Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary has turned into over two decades of prison outreach and led to the development of custom music programs to help inspire, educate, and prepare individuals for reentry.

In October 2001, Collie traveled to Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary with an all-star band for a performance that became his classic live album, Alive at Brushy Mountain. The inmates were an enthusiastic audience, and the show was inspirational. Mostly, though, Collie showed up at Brushy Mountain with a mission.

The doors at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary have been closed for seven years, since 2009. However, once upon a time, the facility was a place that you didn’t want to enter if you were in the Volunteer State.
